NFC North - Green Bay Packers
Once again Doc got sidelined by the Olympics, which reminds me of the story about the University of MeatChicken Olympian who was so thrilled about his Gold Medal that he took it home and had it bronzed. Here is the Pack:
Brett Favre, QB – Doc’s Quiz #1: Brett is -
a. One of the greatest of all time
b. Still able to throw those accurate long bombs
c. A consistent Fantasy Football Point Producer
d. A #1 Fantasy Football QB
e. All of the above
Sorry, the correct answer is a. Yes that’s right, a and only a. Favre's performances have often been spectacular, unfortunately that can be spectacularly good or spectacularly bad. Example: Week 16, 399 yards, 4 TDs and 0 INTs. Week 17, 116 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT.
As he gets older, the head Cheesehead's range has been decreasing. Complicating this is the broken thumb on his throwing hand that has not healed properly. Despite all this, Brett's still in the top half of the NFL QBs, just not the top half of the top half.
Tim Couch, QB – Tim got a sore arm throwing in the cold last week. In the Cold? Hey Tim, you thought “The Mistake on the Lake” was cold - wait until you get a taste of the frozen tundra in December. Oh well, he does have one unique honor, his last name and the place from which he should be watching the games…match.
Ahman Green, RB – A lower #1 Fantasy Football RB only because the Packers' offense won’t give him as many scoring opportunities as he deserves.
Donald Driver, WR – Doc Predicts Driver will be a back seat passenger before too long. The Packs Starting WRs will be:
Robert Ferguson and Jarvon Walker. Of the two, Walker is the more intriguing pick and I'd give him the nod as a #2 Fantasy Football WR over Ferguson.
Bubba Franks, TE – There is a really likeable security guard named Bubba at the NASA installation where both Rocket Man and KirkC work. He will probably score more TDs than this Bubba.
Ryan Longwell, K – His last name says it all. A #1 Fantasy Football kicker despite having to kick iceballs in the cheese ball state.
Packers Defense – The Packers have a decent enough D to start with, but given the late season weather at Lambeau, they might as well have a twelfth man when playing at home. Statistically, about the middle across the board. A good #2 Fantasy Football D.
