Storms Continue to Batter the South - and the NFL

The San Francisco 49ers' game Sunday in New Orleans could be moved or even postponed because of Hurricane Ivan. Hurricane's are continuing to pummel the southern US and have already caused the re-scheduling of one game - the Titans/Dolphins in Week 1.

The game is expected to be played as scheduled, however the Superdome is being used as a shelter for those who didn't join the 1.2 million people fleeing the storm.

The New Orleans Saints have moved their base of operations to San Antonio for the week - and in a worst-case scenario, the game could be played there in the Alamodome.

Cornerback Jimmy Williams, who's from Baton Rouge, made sure most of his family got out of harm's way this week - but his in-laws, who live in New Orleans, stubbornly refused to leave.

"My wife got in this big fight with them on the phone," Williams said. "She was saying they need to get out of there, but they wouldn't listen."

In 1992, Dennis Erickson's Miami home was destroyed by Hurricane Andrew.
