Another Best Buy Playoff League Hint +
You can still change your lineup one or two more times before tomorrow's games. We have provided a number of hints towards how the game is structured. Of course, as the number of teams dwindles, the game changes a bit.
Our point projections on the member side show that McNabb, Vick, Westbrook, and Dunn are projected to be the top point earners. TO would be in there as well were he not injured. This should come as no surprise given the defensive strengths over in the Pittsburgh - NE game.
Obviously, this information is useful in selecting players, but are there any extra hints that might be useful?
How about this? When picking a QB, only three choices appear. That means you will have the chance for either Vick or McNabb at a minimum. Sometimes both will appear.
For RB, the choices get a little more varied. Any combination or Westbrook, Dunn or Dillon should be good. With two sets of three playbooks to pick from, you almost always pick one, one of these three between the two sets sometimes both.
WR gets a little more difficult. Ward, Burress and Patton are rated as the top WRs with TO out. But we think Freddie Mitchell will be one of the top ones this weekend. Remember that his projected numbers are based on his season participation average, not the playing time since taking over for TO.
Now Best Buy has a lot of WRs to pick from, everyone from those listed above through Bethel Johnson and Michael Jenkins (from THE Ohio State University). As a result you don't always have a great choice for one or both of the WR positions. We'll tell you what to do about that in a minute.
TE - Crumpler or L.J. Smith would seem to have the best possibilities this week. Once again Best buy look like they are going two deep on the lineups to increase the number of possible choices, so you may not see either of these guys in your three playbooks.
As for Kickers, our choices are, Vinatieri with 10 projected and Akers with 9. As with the QBs there are only four possible choices. So, you are guaranteed to see at least one of these names in your three playbooks.
Back to the WRs. First, while McNabb and Vick are the top two Best Buy QBs, realize that most of Vick's points come from his rushing yards (remember, we told you the Best Buy scoring system favors the running QB slightly). This means that the just because Vick is one of the top two projected Best Buy scoring QBs, his receivers are not the beneficiary of those points. So I would stay clear of the ATL WRs.
Also, given the fairly random order of the Best Buy system, the best option seems to be to redo your team until you get what you think is the best possible lineup (mostly those names listed above). You can change once a day The Best Buy day is defined as 1:00AM Eastern - 12:59 AM Eastern (10:00PM Pacific - 9:59 Pacific). For the future, (especially those of you us out west try to set up you team before 10:00 PM. It will buy you one extra change prior to the games should you need it.
PS. The Final Countdown Will Start Tomorrow Morning 90 Minutes Prior to the First Game. (1:30 PM Eastern, ... Awesome Dude, that's like 10:30 in the A.M.out here, time for you to catch some waves first)
