Final Game Thoughts

Some final thoughts concerning the Super Bowl:

First, apologies for accidentally posting two versions of the point predictions for Fanball Hold'em. Dang high tech stuff still confuses me. The correct version is now the only one posted.

As for the game. The biggest topic of interest appears to be whether or not Terrell Owens will play. Eagles fans are sure that if TO sets foot on the field the Super Bowl is theirs. Patriot fans know they will win and are only wondering if they should make TO one of their fantasy picks instead of Pinkston or Mitchell.

Well, kids, bottom line is that I don't think it's going to matter much. Why? A couple of reasons.

First, I don't think he is going to be on the field all that much. Sure he has practiced, but practicing a few times after sitting around for several weeks with a broken leg hardly puts you back in mid-season form.

Second, while an injured, TO is as good as any of the normal (i.e. average) Eagles WR the fact is that a normal Ealgles WR just isn't all that great. Pinkston, Mitchell, Lewis...need I say more.

Look at how McNabb has thrown the ball in the playoff's without TO. Freddie Mitchell in the first game, and Chad Lewis (out for the Super Bowl). Where were Pinkston and Greg Lewis in those games? For that matter, what happened to Freddie in the Atlanta game?

As for the Super Bowl, who knows? McNabb could toss a pair to L.J. Smith...or Pinkston...or Lewis...or Mitchell again...or somebody else. Maybe even Owens, but don't count on it.

WR and TE picks on both sides of the ball are at best a crap shoot. The confidence factor in Patten , Branch, Givens, and Graham is no better than Mitchell, Pinkston, Lewis, and Smith. About all you can count on is that someone is going to score. So good luck in picking you players. We hope that the numbers posted on the site the last few days help.

As for who is going to win...Doc says....I don't care. OK, who do I hope wins?....I don't care. As a StatLeader commentator, I strive to remain neutral and I really do not have any favorites. That said, I suppose if I had to root for someone, it would be the Eagles but only for two reasons.

First, 2 out of 3 is enough. Time for someone else to to be the champs, especially a team that hasn't won since, well...since Rocket Man had hair (a long, long time ago).

Second, there is just something not right about Tom Brady winning. As a successful University of MeatChicken alum (dang, that is hard to admit), he is proof that there is an exception to every rule. But it's just not natural. (Plus if I have to hear him say "I'm going to Disney World" again I may kill my TV.)

Ultimately, whomever you are rooting for, I hope you enjoy the game and may you fantasy playoff teams do great as well. Remember, we'll be back 90 minutes before the game with Final Countdown.
