We All Too Often Forget The Good
Sometimes those of us who cover both real and fantasy sports get so involved in how witty and cute we can be trashing those who play the game, that we forget about the good that many of these same athletes do.
Take, for example, today's story on NFL.com concerning Kurt Warner's and Amani Toomer's trip to Indonesia to help the victims of the tsunami. The NFL as a whole has made a tremendous effort in this matter, raising over $4,000,000 for the cause. Furthermore, there have been some wonderfully generous acts by individuals such as Ben Roethlisberger who donated his entire check from the Steelers-Jets playoff game to the relief effort. But Warner and Toomer have gone beyond the call of duty with their selfless efforts..
While the pro football world has its eyes focused on the Aloha State for tomorrow's Pro Bowl, rather than lying around on the sunny beaches of Honolulu, these two men and their wives have traveled halfway around the world to help those who have lost everything. Doing everything from loading and unloading supplies to helping with reconstruction efforts they represent all that is good and right with the NFL. They deserve the respect and appreciation of fans everywhere and we at StatLeader salute them.
