Is Tim Rattay this year's Drew Brees?

When the San Diego Chargers drafted Philip Rivers, everyone was sure that Rivers would start at QB as the team's new savior.

Well, as we all know, Brees went on to have his career year and nobody ever saw Prince Philip. Brees went on to throw 27 TD's, 3159 yards, with a QB Rating over 104. Don't look now, but Brees is still #1 on the depth chart.

Flash ahead to the 2005/2006 San Francisco 49ers. They too have brought in a young gun who is being paid an awful lot of money to return the franchise to it's glory. Guess who starts game 1 for the 49ers? Tim Rattay!

"The preseason is the preseason" some wise sage once said - and "Rattay is playing against second string defenses when he has been in this year." That is true - but Rattay has also been playing with the 49ers second string offense - and doing well. What might Rattay do with the starters?

You may get to see - all season long.
