Million Dollar (Cry)Babies
I know that there are many people that happily side with the million-dollar-babies of the NFL.
I am not one of them.
49er Coach Mike Nolan has sent a message to his team that they need to "trust" and execute his system - or they will be out. Linebacker Jamie Winborn got that message Wednesday when the Niners basically asked him to "go home until we ditch your butt." Maybe Winborn will move to a team that has a better record and will think he got the best of it - but Nolan has clearly shown that if you want to be with the 49ers, you will play as a team or you will go home.
One moron with the San Jose Mercury News has said that this is Nolan just trying to show everybody that "he's in charge." Will guess what Tim Kawakami - you have no idea what is going on behind closed doors between Nolan and his players - and maybe letting them know that the coaching wimps of the recent past are gone may be just what they need. They were losers with Jamie Winborn - do you think they can do worse without him? I don't think so.
Everyone could see in last year's team that they were perfectly happy sucking. Nolan is letting the players and the fans know that the 49ers are not going to be happy anymore just playing games close - or barely holding on to victories. Mr. Kawakami was happy with the fact that Jamie made some plays. Wow! I guess he should be able to do whatever he wants then!
This week 3's biggest cry baby is Jeremy Shockey. Shockey blasted his Coach for holding Plaxico Burress out for a quarter in San Diego's rout of the Giants. Plaxico apparently can't find team meetings on time. Burress has been quoted as stating "I can't say it won't happen again."
Why blame the Coach for taking action? Why hasn't Shockey and his teammates bitch-slapped Plaxico into line instead? Is it really too much for you to do your job? If so, give it to somebody who wants it.
But then that's just my opinion, I could be wrong. (apologies to Dennis Miller)
