Fantasy Football Draft: Larry Johnson

LJ has agreed to a reported $45 million dollar deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. The contract includes $19 million in guaranteed money. Johnson is expected to rejoin his team on Tuesday.

While his teammates were holding two-a-days in River Falls, Wisconsin, Johnson spent training camp working out at Athletes Performance Institute in Tempe, Arizona.

THAT takes a little pressure off of a draft-day concern. All you Larry Johnson fans can draft away knowing LJ will be football-ready by opening day!

Source: Vick Drowned or Hanged Poor-Performing Dogs

Co-defendants in the grisly dogfighting case have pleaded guilty - and one is on record saying that Atlanta Falcon's QB Michael Vick joined them in drowning and hanging dogs that underperformed.

Fighting for his NFL life, Vick and his lawyers have been talking with federal prosecutors about a possible plea agreement.

"The 'Bad Newz* Kennels' operation and gambling monies were almost exclusively funded by Vick," statements by the co-defendants say.

Fantasy Football Impact: It's probably time to scratch Vick from your opening day line up! Maybe Michael can go spend some quality time with his brother on some street corner living down to the their expectations.

*According to Wikipedia.org, The Vick children grew up living in the "Ridley Circle Homes", a public housing project in a financially depressed and crime-ridden neighborhood located in the East End section of the port city on the harbor of Hampton Roads. Located not far from the downtown area and the massive shipyard and coal piers, the 'East End' of Newport News is often known in hip hop ('urban') culture by the slang names "Bad News" or "Bad Newz".

Bengals' Rookie RB Irons Out For Season

Rookie running back Kenny Irons of the Bengals will be out for the season after tearing a knee ligament during an exhibition game at Detroit.

Irons, the Bengals' second-round draft choice from Auburn, is expected to recover fully by next spring, Cincinnati coach Marvin Lewis said Friday.

Irons went to the locker room on a cart after hobbling off the field in the game won 27-26 by the Lions. He was diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

He had four carries for 17 yards, including an 11-yard gain, after replacing starter Rudi Johnson in the exhibition opener for both teams.

Injuries held Irons to 893 yards last season after he led the Southeastern Conference in 2005 by averaging 108 yards a game.

Panthers' Safety Mike Minter to Retire

Mike Minter, the Carolina Panthers' career leader in games started and tackles, blamed achy knees in announcing his retirement Tuesday after 10 seasons with the team.

The 33-year-old safety, wearing dark sunglasses, blamed injuries for quitting a year earlier than he originally planned.

Owner Jerry Richardson, fighting back tears, said Minter was the face of the franchise.

Minter was the Panthers' second-round pick in 1997, and became a fan favorite because of his longevity, toughness, hard hits and work in the community.

He has 467 more tackles than any other player in franchise history. His 141 starts and 94 consecutive starts are team records, as are his nine fumble recoveries and four interception returns for touchdowns.

Minter had not missed a game since early in the 2001 season, despite several injuries along the way. He played with a torn biceps muscle and even on a broken foot during Carolina's loss to New England in the Super Bowl at the end of the 2003 season.
