Fantasy Football Injury News: Javon Walker Out

Fantasy Football Injury News: Javon Walker Out

Denver Broncos wide receiver Javon Walker will undergo surgery on his right knee on Friday and will be out for "a few weeks," coach Mike Shanahan said Thursday.

Walker missed the Broncos' past two games because of swelling, but practiced Monday and Wednesday.

"Javon's not feeling very good," Shanahan said. "He'll get operated on tomorrow in Houston, so he'll be out for a few weeks."

Fantasy Football Impact: Walker, who was projected by most to be a top performing WR, has been a bust in 2007. For those of you who dealt Walker to an unsuspecting dope in your league before this news - congratulations!

Fantasy Football: Chiefs Set to activate Holmes?

Fantasy Football: Chiefs Set to activate Holmes?

Kansas City RB Priest Holmes went through another impressive workout on Thursday and the Chiefs appeared to be leaning toward activating the 34-year-old running back.

Attempting an improbable return to the NFL after being out for 22 months, Holmes had his first practice on Wednesday and coaches said they would pay particular attention to how he did Thursday.

"He was still fresh, wasn't sore," coach Herm Edwards said with a wry shake of his head. "He went through practice, had a good practice."

The Chiefs seemed to make roster room for Holmes this week when they traded Larry Johnson's backup, Michael Bennett, to Tampa. But Edwards said he still had not made a decision whether Holmes would play Sunday at Oakland. It would almost certainly be in a limited role behind starter Larry Johnson.

Fantasy Football Impact: He's as old as the hills - but has a strong desire to play - pick him up if you're a gambler have the roster room to spare!

49ers QB Alex Smith Could Miss Rest of Season

The shoulder injury suffered by San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith may be more significant than originally thought, according to ESPN.com.

According to the report, Smith is seeking a second opinion on his injured throwing shoulder, which could result in season-ending surgery.

Initial reports stated that the grade-three shoulder separation would not require surgery and that Smith could return to the lineup before the end of the month.

However, preliminary MRI exam results indicate that the former No. 1 pick may have suffered a serious injury to tendons in the shoulder, according to the report. If that is the case, Smith is expected to have surgery immediately and would likely miss the remainder of the season

Fantasy Football Update: Bulger Benched!

Fantasy Football Update: Bulger Benched!

St. Louis Rams quarterback Marc Bulger, who has been playing with two broken ribs, will be replaced by backup Gus Frerotte for Sunday's home game against Arizona.

This is good for fantasy football: Freotte makes a decent bye-week replacement option for people faced with the daunting thought of picking up Griese, Gerrard, Dilfer, or any other 'ick' choice at QB.

It's also great for teams that have Bulger on their roster. Bulger can be a very good starting fantasy QB - even when he is a little dinged-up! Combine that 'McNairish' quality with an opportunity now to rest for a couple of weeks (and wait for Steven Jackson's return,) and we may have a strong second-half performer!

The Ram's last 8 games include the Saints, 49ers, Seahawks, Falcons, Packers, Bengals, and Cardinals.
